Haguruka is a volunteer-run non-profit association of Burundian Canadian women based in Toronto that strives to help the economic development and improvement of the standard of life of women and children in need in Burundi and newcomer women in Canada. Our efforts focus on empowering women to help them raise themselves up and integrate society fully.

We have held several events and fundraising campaigns to support our programs.
- Gala 2016, featuring OASIS Centre des femmes as an official partner
- Haguruka Annual General Meeting in March 2016 was an opportunity to elect our Board, connect with the community and launch our Annual Report
- Gala 2015, with speakers Anne-Marie Kamanye of AMREF Canada, and Dr. Njoki Wane from the University of Toronto
- Gala 2014 was a huge success in increasing our profile in the community! We featured guest speakers Mr. Davies Bagambiire, Ms. Jacqueline Muhorakeye, and Ms. Jocelyne Alexandre from Shelter Them - all of them accomplished and engaged activists in support of women's rights. In 2014, we also hosted a special event with Jeanne Gapiya to launch our partnership with ANSS on project NAWE NUZE, and welcomed Maggy Barankitse to initiate project ITEKA.
